K-Roll-PorscheTamer's post about his dads 911 got me thinking about my dads sbc that has been in many different vehicles over the years, and has been around as long as I can remember. It was a gift from his father who unfortunantly passed away a couple of years back (Not exactly stock either we cant remember much about it but its punched 60 over and has a mild cam)

The first memory I have of it is when I was in the single digits (cant remember exactly when) and he was painting engine parts orange.

Kinja'd!!!

The first memory I have of riding in a car with that old 283 was his nova that he was turning into a drag car

The next car that it was in was his 82 malibu wagon (miss that car) car could snap necks with the looks we always got when he would drive it around (I blame this car with my love of loud exhaust..In a good way of course, one of my best memories of it is driving through a new jersey suburb in the evening with the pipes rumbling)

that old small blocks current residing place is in his 86 k5 blazer which we (mostly him and the neighbor) did a small restoration on a couple of years back, the summit racing air cleaner in the pictures is now on my Monte Carlo's engine after we cleaned it up and painted it

. Thanks for reading, no happy ending yet like K-Roll's story although when I was home a couple weeks ago I was the closest ive ever been to driving one of his cars with that 283 in it. Stupid axle seal going out and not getting the last part in until after I had to leave.

If that 283 is still going strong then yours and it's story is far from being over. There still a happy ending waiting for you. Hoping you get to drive it someday! :)
